EARTHQUAKES IN MURCIA
In Spain there are about 2,500 earthquakes a year, of which only averaged about two a month are felt by the population, according to the Spanish Seismic Network.
Murcia is in the most sensitive area to earthquakes in Spain.
During the afternoon of May 11th in less than two hours, two earthquakes have shaken Lorca, but have also been felt in Cartagena, Aguilas, Mazarrón and its own capital of Murcia.At 17:05 there was an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale and 18:47 another earthquake of magnitude 5.1.
These earthquakes have caused nine deaths and 326 injuries, and are 542 affected buildings.
The conclusions that have left these earthquakes, is that Spain is not prepared to undergo seismic movements because the earthquakes in Murcia (one of the most seismically active places registered) have caused a lot of damage.
